Surya Namaskara

Sun Salutation, also known as Surya Namaskara, is a traditional yoga practice. It is a sequence of 12 postures or asanas linked together to form a flow, that aims to awaken the body physically, mentally, and energetically. Breathing is an important aspect of the Sun Salutation. Traditionally, it's practiced at sunrise.

For the challenge #Areyoubookenough for April, the theme was: Body Language. 

When I read the title, immediately I had the idea: a concertina book, with pop-up figures doing the Asanas. 

I finished the little book with Mantras in Sanskrit and English. Painted with watercolor and acrylics.

The Moon and the trees- La Lune et les arbres

A new little artist's book (18 cm x 13 cm; 7" x 5"), indigo dyed and watercolor on cotton paper from a reused notebook. Some eco-dyed ribbons and linen threads.

I'm always enchanted by the full moon and Nature, so showing both together, it was just a pleasure.

Un nouveau petit livre d'artiste (18 cm x 13 cm; 7" x 5"), teint en indigo et aquarelle sur du papier en coton d'un carnet réutilisé.  Des rubbans et fils de lin teints.

Je suis toujours enchantée par la pleine lune et la nature, donc montrer les deux ensemble, c'était juste un plaisir.

The Creative Grimoire - Le Grimoire Creative

Right now, I'm working mostly on writing and editing an old project; a novel, half-fiction, half autobiography. But I also take time to advance on the project ' The Creative Grimoire' (an online class by Kiala Givehand). Here are the cover and the first pages.

Stones from Kermagen - Des pierres de Kermagen

Stones. I love stones, pebbles, and rocks in general. I have the feeling they are alive, still in a meditative state and as old souls, full of wisdom.

I talk to them, I have some in my house, in my art studio, in the garden, and in my painting too.

Des pierres. J'aime les pierres, les cailloux et les roches en général. J'ai le sentiment qu'ils sont vivants, dans un état méditatif et comme de vieilles âmes, pleines de sagesse.

Je leur parle, j'en ai dans ma maison, dans mon atelier d'art, dans le jardin, et dans ma peinture aussi.

I found an online mini-course on how to paint stones with watercolor (toniajenny.com) and I decided to paint one stone a day making a concertina mini-book. I'm not very good at copying, so it was a challenge and a good exercise of observation.

J'ai trouvé un mini-cours en ligne sur la façon de peindre des pierres à l'aquarelle (toniajenny.com) et j'ai décidé de peindre une pierre par jour en faisant un mini-livre en accordéon. Je ne suis pas très bonne pour copier, donc c'était un défi et un bon exercice d'observation.

Medicine Bags and Amulets Bags - Pochettes-médecine et d'amulettes

I like small bags, and I have many myself, so I started doing some with the idea of making medicine bags or amulet bags.

Made with wool and dyed fabrics, hand-spun wool, some purchased or recycled fabrics, charms and special decorations added.

J'aime les petits sacs, et j'en ai beaucoup moi-même, alors j'ai commencé à en faire certains avec l'idée de faire des pochettes-médecine ou sacs-amulette.

Faits avec de la laine et des tissus teints, laine filée à la main, certains tissus achetés ou recyclés et j'ai ajouté des décorations spéciales pour chacune.

Hand made journal - Journal fait main

The little journal is ready to travel. I think it will help me to be more present and conscious of details in the city.

Palm-leaf book - Livre en feuilles de palmier

Inspired by the palm-leaf book form, I made this little book with recycled teabags.
Teabags, watercolors, and Indigo and walnut ink.

Inspirée par le format des livres en feuilles de palmier, j'ai fait ce petit livre avec des sachets de thé recyclés.
Sachets de thé, aquarelles, Indigo et encre de noyer.

It's very interesting to see how many ways exist to make a book!

Il est très intéressant de voir combien de possibilités existent pour faire un livre !
